bat houses throughout the neighborhood. One of them will be place at Amberly Park near a lake.

Not only will the houses give the bats a place to hang out during the day, but the bats will hopefully stick around and eat mosquitoes.

Resident Randy Marlowe say the park is the perfect place to put one of the first bat houses.

“We’d like to create an environment to where the bats are closest to where the problem is,” he said.

Those problem areas are places like retention ponds.

Community leaders plan to order the bat houses soon. They will be mounted on tall poles away from areas where people walk and play.

Temple Terrace has already place numerous bat houses along the Hillsborough River. In addition, the University of Florida also uses bat houses as insect control.
