Nerve damage in the left rib?

My husband is 56 years old, had an infection in his left lung and antibotics not help, way they operated, and in order to remove the infection was so thick they had to shave the left rib and cutting 3 nerves so the doctor can use both hands to pick up the infection. Since then he is in pain all the time, can not even sleep in bed, sitting and sleeping with each breath is painful and we are not getting no help from any doctor. Need help? Robert J.
